Publicity
We try to get the club known locally as much as possible. This is some of the ways we do that.
Look out for news of us.
MILLAND NEWS
This is published every two months and contains club news under the title Model Railway Chat-about 350 words.
The publication runs to about 500 copies and is distributed free to all households in the Milland Valley
LIPHOOK COMMUNITY MAGAZINE
From December 2011 edition we hope to have a regular column in this publication which runs to nearly 4000 copies and is distributed free to every household in the parish of Bramshott and Liphook.
LOCAL NEWSPAPERS
We give information on and photographs of club activities, particularly regarding layouts appearing at exhibitions, to the Petersfield Post, Liphook Herald and Midhurst and Petworth Advertiser and occasionally to the Haslemere and District Messenger (a freebie)
LOCAL FREE DELIVERED MAGAZINES
We are starting to use these where we can have a free mention of something we are arranging or attending. They have good distribution and are well designed and printed. Round and About which is distributed from Haslemere to Liphook and all villages in between is one we have used and Petersfield has a similar publication which has a linked magazine and website, which we will try shortly.
NATIONAL MODEL RAILWAY MAGAZINES
We use all the major magazines Club and Exhibition News pages to advertise our Open Day
WEBSITES
LOCAL AUTHORITY
The Hampshire, West Sussex and Surrey County Council web sites have registers of local clubs and societies and we are listed on these together with meeting venues and contact details.
Some of them also have what’s on listings and we use these for our open day event.
COMMUNITY
We use the volunteer run Liphook site for club news and attendances at local exhibitions, together with details of our Open Day.
COMMERCIAL
We use their What’s On elements for advertising our Open Day where they are free to local organisations such as ourselves, West Sussex and Petersfield have such sites which we are starting to use
MODEL RAILWAY CLUB LISTINGS
We use the UK Model Shop site, which has an extensive clubs listing and exhibition listing. Also other sites including Bachmann Model Railways and the Gauge 0 Guild sites
